Free Malaysia Today : The controversy surrounding preacher Zamri Vinoth and activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak highlights a troubling reality: in a country built on religious diversity, enforcement must not only be fair - it must be timely and consistent. The rule of law loses its power when it appears to arrive late.

In a country as religiously diverse as Malaysia, institutions must do more than punish wrongdoing.They must show that the law responds the same way to the same offence, whoever commits it.

When that consistency falters, confidence in the system begins to erode.The controversy surrounding preacher Zamri Vinoth and activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak has pushed this issue back into the national conversation.Police say both men, believed to have fled to Thailand, will face charges once located and returned to Malaysia.
